Metilvet®

Anti-inflammatory, Analgesic and Immunosuppressant.

INDICATION

Metilvet® is indicated as an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and immunosuppressant for dogs and cats. Therefore, it can be used in therapies to control itching in allergic skin diseases, therapeutic control of autoimmune diseases, and also in situations where a powerful anti-inflammatory action is desired.

Methylprednisolone is a glucocorticoid recommended for chronic therapies. The methyl radical at carbon-6 added to the molecule of prednisolone provides greater antiinflammatory power and minimum undesired mineralocorticoid effects1.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Glucocorticoids act by inhibiting the action of the enzyme phospholipase A2, blocking the inflammation cascade from the start. Furthermore, they also have various genomic and non-genomic mechanisms that inhibit the inflammatory process.
