Landic® is formulated based on gentamicin and atropine. Gentamicin is a broad spectrum antibiotic that, when applied through the parenteral route, has an excellent distribution in the intestinal loops, fighting infection caused by bacterial pathogens present in the intestinal tract, which uses the enteritis installed and worsens the condition. Atropine is a natural tertiary amine that inhibits muscarinic actions of acetylcholine on structures innervated by postganglionic cholinergic fibers. It has the property of reducing the motility and secretion activity of the gastrointestinal system during prolonged period. Atropine antagonizes the actions of he cholinesterase inhibitors in the muscarinic receptors. It is metabolized by the liver and secreted by the kidney.
Landic® is indicated for the treatment of conditions of diarrhea of various etiologies, also combating the proliferation of the microorganisms Escherichia coli, Enterobacter ssp, Salmonella ssp, Staphylococcus ssp, Shigella ssp, Streptococcus ssp. and Clostridium ssp., which cause or worsen the enteritis.
