INDICATION

Meloxinew 0.2% Injetável is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, with preferential activity in the inhibition of Cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2), indicated for dogs and cats in the treatment of inflammation and acute pain. It is also indicated in the control of pain and inflammation in the postoperative period.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

The main mechanism of action of Meloxinew 0.2% Injetável is the preferential inhibition of the enzyme Cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2), and consequently the ability to block the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, mediators of the inflammatory process.

The preferential action on COX-2 minimizes the side effects on the gastric mucosa of dogs and cats, which provides greater safety of use associated with the effectiveness of its anti-inflammatory action.

HOW TO USE

Dogs: The first application of Meloxicam should be given at a dose of 0.2 mg/kg (1 mL of Meloxinew 0.2% Injetável for every 10 kg), followed by up to 6 further doses of 0.1 mg/kg (0.5 mL of Meloxinew 0.2% Injetável for every 10 kg), once a day, by the intravenous or subcutaneous route.

Cats: The first application of Meloxicam should be given at a dose of 0.1 mg/kg (0.05 mL of Meloxinew 0.2% Injetável for every 1 kg), followed by up to 3 further doses of 0.05 mg/kg (0.025 mL of Meloxinew 0.2% Injetável for every 1 kg), once a day, subcutaneously.
