INDICATION

Metilvet®is indicated as an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant for dogs and cats. Methylprednisolone is a glucocorticoid with intermediate-acting anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive activity, recommended for chronic therapies. It reduces or prevents the tissue response to inflammatory processes, thereby decreasing the clinical signs of inflammation.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Glucocorticoids act by inhibiting the action of the enzyme phospholipase A2, blocking the inflammation cascade from the start. Furthermore, they also have various genomic and non-genomic mechanisms that inhibit the inflammatory process.

HOW TO USE

For use in dogs as an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant, and in cats as an immunosuppressant, administered orally.

Anti-inflammatory dosage:

• Dogs: 0.5 to 1 mg/kg, according to the dosage schedule shown in the table below, twice daily. Duration of use: 3 to 10 days.

Immunosuppressive dosage:

• Dogs and cats: 2 to 6 mg/kg, according to the dosage schedule shown in the table below, twice daily. Duration of use: 7 to 15 days.

PRESENTATION 

• Cartridges containing 1 blister pack with 10 tablets or displays containing 12 blisters packs with 10 tablets of 100 mg (5 mg of methylprednisolone).
• Cartridges containing 1 blister pack with 10 tablets or displays containing 12 blisters packs with 10 tablets of 200 mg (10 mg of methylprednisolone).
• Cartridges containing 1 blister pack with 10 tablets or displays containing 12 blisters packs with 10 tablets of 400 mg (20 mg of methylprednisolone).
• Cartridges containing 1 blister pack with 10 tablets of 800 mg (40 mg of methylprednisolone).
