Among the prebiotic principles studied in animal nutrition are the fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and the manan oligosaccharides (MOS), which selectively stimulate the growth and activity of one or more beneficial bacteria.

Equines, mules, donkeys, cattle and buffaloes: 5 to 10 g, once a day;
Sheep, goats and ostriches: 2.5 to 5 g, once a day;
Pigs: 2.5 to 5 g, once a day, or 1 to 2 g per Kg of feed.
