Sedanew® 2% (Xylazine 2%) is a sedative and muscle relaxant indicated for dogs and cats. Xylazine is pharmacologically classified as a sedative agent of the alpha-2 adrenergic agonist class. The drugs belonging to this class activate alpha-2 adrenergic receptors, present in the central and peripheral nervous systems, causing a decrease in noradrenaline release and a consequent decrease in sympathetic activity of the central nervous system, leading to sedation.

INDICATION

Sedanew 2% is indicated for dogs and cats as a sedative to facilitate diagnostic procedures and minal surgical, such as for containment for examinations and x-rays, laparotomies, biopsies, urethral catheterization, orchiectomies (castration), cutaneous lacerations suture, anaplastias, plaster and tape application, caudectomies, dental procedures and other interventions. It is also indicated for use in transport cases.

HOW TO USE

• Dogs and cats: intravenously or intramuscularly, at a dose of 1 to 3 mg/kg, or 0,05 to 0,15 mL/kg.
After administration of Sedanew® 2% the animal should be kept in a quiet environment until the maximum effect of sedation is achieved.

If supplementation of the dose is necessary, it should be performed from 30 minutes to 1 hour after the initial dose, under the supervision of the Veterinarian. A repeat dose is recommended at half the initial dose. The doses can be modified according to the Veterinarian instructions.
