Methocarbamol is an effective muscle relaxant, widely used in horses. It promotes relaxation and reduces muscle spasms, pain, stiffness, and hypertonicity due to its action on the central nervous system. It has no direct effect on muscle contractility, preserving muscle tone.
Descontrax® is indicated for horses as a muscle relaxant and can be used to treat pain of musculoskeletal origin , such as in exertional myopathies , muscle spasms, spinal cord trauma, arthritis, tetanus and in any cases where muscle relaxation is necessary.
To be used intravenously slowly. Administer at a dose of 5 to 25 mg/kg, which is equivalent to 5 mL to 25 mL of the product for every 100 kg, for 1 to 5 days.
The dosage and frequency of application should be based on the severity of the clinical condition and the observed therapeutic response, at the discretion of the Veterinarian.
