Furolisin®

Diuretic for dogs and cats.

Furosemide is a loop diuretic that interferes with Na+ and Cl- transport in the thick ascending branch of the loop of Henle. In addition to inhibiting the resorption of these ions and potassium in this portion of the nephron (by acting on the Na+/K+/2Cl- system), it also reduces the reabsorption of sodium and chloride in the distal bypassed tubule. The diuresis results from the increased excretion of ions that would maintain interstitial hypertonicity - which causes passive water reabsorption along the nephron1.
Furosemide also has vasodilating properties, increasing renal perfusion and decreasing cardiac preload. In addition, it can be administered in a wide range of doses and be used in chronic administration or emergency therapy.

INDICATION

Furolisin® is a furosemide-based diuretic indicated for dogs and cats. Its main action is in the ascending segment of the Henle’s loop. Furosemide inhibits the resorption of sodium, potassium and chlorine in the thick portion of the Henle’s loop, leading to diuresis.
